Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology (BIPT) offers Bachelor’s degree programs and was established in 1978 by the Beijing municipal authorities together with the central government of the PRC, with support from SINOPEC. Through state reforms and an open operational model, the university rapidly strengthened its reputation and academic standing.

The institution provides training across multiple faculties. Key areas include information technologies (automation, electrical engineering, communications, computer science), materials and chemical engineering (chemical engineering, applied chemistry, materials science), economics and management (international trade, information management, business administration, accounting), mechanical engineering (process equipment, machinery and automation, thermal and energy engineering, environmental engineering, measurement and control technologies, oil and gas transportation and storage), mathematics and physics (information and computational science), foreign languages (public and professional English), and humanities and social sciences (public works, tourism and tourism management).

BIPT cooperates with leading institutions, including Beijing University of Chemical Technology and China University of Petroleum, and supports international exchange programs. Since signing its first cooperation agreement in 1995 with the Norwegian University of Technology, it has developed partnerships with universities and specialists from Russia, the USA, Norway, Korea, France, Hong Kong, Canada, the UK, Germany, and other countries. Today, more than 30 universities and research institutes collaborate with BIPT on research, exchanges, conferences, and major technical projects. Many alumni hold PhDs, and over 8,000 graduates work in major oil companies and engineering positions.

The university occupies 299,078 square meters across two campuses, with 17 lecture halls, 17 research and experimental centers, a large library, administrative facilities, and extensive sports infrastructure. Modern hotel-style dormitories, primarily for international students, offer double rooms equipped with essential amenities. Tuition covers eight months of study, accommodation, materials, registration, medical insurance, and a one-year student visa. Applicants must present a secondary school diploma (minimum 11 years) and HSK level 4. No entrance exams are required; applications close on September 1.
